IMPROVING STUDENTS’ READING DESCRIPTIVE COMPREHENSION TROUGH SMART THINKING METHOD AT EIGHT GRADE OF SMP SAINS QUR’ AN MINHAJUTH THULLAB PEKALONGAN ACADEMIC YEARS 2017/2018



Reading is one of the four basic skills of language which has significant
Role in daily life because reading is clarification of through and feeling some
one. Trough reading, the various feeling and also concept in their minds. The
objective of this research text at the eight trough smart thinking method.”. this
research was conducted at Smp Sains Qur’ an Minhajuth Thullab Pekalongan
academic year 2017/2018, and the object of this class were fourteen students.
The he problem of this research were the student have low ability, especially
in reading, most of the student have difficulties in how to find main idea and
vocabulary in the descriptive text. Each cycle is done in three meetings. Each
cycle consists of planning, acting, observing and reflecting. In this research the
reasercher have done pre-survey. In collecting the data the reasercher uses written
test, questionnaire, and observation.
Observation was conducted to observe the process of teaching learning in
Reading activity before implementing the strategy. The researcherconducted pre
observation in the VIII class on the Monday November on 13
th
2017. Based on
pre observation result, the VIII class showed they in Reading activity. Most
students in VIII were participation class Reading descriptive Text, discussion, but
they are not confident in giving their explanation in resume the result. They were
not courage to involve the Reading learning process. In the other words, the
students have problems with their confidence to resume the result. Therefore,
they need a strategy to improve their Reading ability and make the English
Reading lesson more exciting.
Having the data in the first and second meetings of cycle, it show that the
learning target has been achieved, because the students who got were 80%. The
passing grade (KKM) is 70, it means that the target has been achieved. The result
of cycle. It is clear that based on the result trough smart thinking method can
give positive improved towards the students’ reading competence
