USING RETELLING TECHNIQUE TO IMPROVE STUDENTS SPEAKING SKILL AT THE EIGHT GRADE OF MTs NURUL QODIRI IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2017/2018



Based on the data that researcher’s obtained, the students of VIII MTs Tri Nurul
Qodiri had a problems speaking skill. The students could not recognize the word because their
lack of vocabulary and comprehansion. It was because of their lack of of ideas to tell, lack of
vocabularies to express the ideas, lack of the chance to speak, and lack of the interesting
teaching method that can motivate them to speak. Speaking becomes an important part of
language teaching, Retelling is there are some techniques that can be used by the English
teacher. To minimize these problems, students should be a centre activity in solving their
problem. The design of this research was Classroom Action Research (CAR). In collecting the
data the researcher used test, observation and questioner. Then the data obtained was analyzed
by comparing its progress in each cycle using percentage measurement. This research was
done in 2 cycles. The subject of this research were29 students of eighth grade of MTs Nurul
Qodiri in academic year 2017/2018.
The data obtained in cycle 1 showed that there wereunder 80% students that already
passed the test they were 41,37%. But in cycle II, there were 86,20% students that already
passed the test. The passing grade (KKM) was 70, itmeans that the target has been achieved.
The result of this research showed that the implementation of Using Retelling Technique to
improve the students’ speaking skill
